In 1783 the Duncan House was established when Benjamin Blackford built his
home on one of the original three tracts of land that later became known
as Nicholasville. Many years later the estate passed to his daughter,
Nancy, who in 1813 married William Duncan. The home has been loved and
cherished for over 200 years as it passed through the Duncan family for
six generations. |
The Duncan House - In 1783 when Kentucky was still part of Virginia, Benjamin and Catherine Blackford built a four room brick house, one of the oldest brick homes in central Kentucky today. Their daughter, Nancy, married William Duncan in 1813. As the family grew, the front addition of the house was completed in 1830 as seen in this picture. William and Nancy raised ten children in the house.
